This pathfinder will be useful in finding information about technology in the Industrial Revolution. These sources are a much better starting place than simply using Google. Try a database first to get an idea of the key words and search terms associated with your topic.

DATABASES
- World History: This is under ABC-CLIO. Click on “Topics” and there is a whole section about “The Power of the Industrial Revolution”. If you have a specific invention already, you can do a quick search at the top. This database also has tons of great photos you can use. Photos are under “media” if you are in their “Topics” section; otherwise photos will come up in your quick search as well.
- Britannica Online: This online encyclopedia will give you good information. It offers also offers images you can use and related videos articles.
- Sharpe Online: This is a resource that searches ebooks. Search “industrial revolution” and it will list the books that have that topic. When you click on the books to open, it hyperlinks all the pages with that topic. It’s very easy to navigate. This database has a different username and password - use the one provided by Ms. Trometer.
- Marshall Cavendish: Focus your searches in “Technology and Applied Sciences” and “Social Studies”. You may find images in this database as well.

- Instagrok: research Industrial Revolution with an interactive map. Click on the subtopics to open up the information. It’s fun! *You have to use Firefox for this to load correctly.
- The History Channel: An overview of the time period. Good background.
- The History Channel Photo Gallery: A great overview of 12 major inventions during the Industrial Revolution. Pictures with a short description provided.
- Industrial Revolution Timeline: interactive list of inventions in chronological order.
